How to Make Carpet Cleaning Solution

Commercial carpet cleaning products can be expensive and not always meet your expectations. Instead of purchasing such expensive products that contain chemicals, you can make your own carpet cleaning solution that will not only save money but will keep the safe, non-toxic environment of your home as well.
A solution made of white vinegar, club soda and a few more household items can clean even high-traffic areas without the need of using professional help such as carpet cleaning Acton services to get your carpet thoroughly cleaned.
Here are the steps in making an effective carpet cleaning solution:
  1. Mix ¼ cup of OxiClean powdered solution with ¼ of white vinegar in a small bowl, and stir the ingredients properly until a semi-thick paste is formed.
  2. Add around 15 drops of essential oil to the mixture. Although any essential oil will do the work, you can use lemon or tea tree oil for best results in removing pet stains and odours.
  3. Use a bucket where to stir the vinegar solution and 1 gallon of very hot water before pouring the carpet cleaning solution into the tank of the cleaning machine. Add ½ cup of club soda to the tank if the area you are going to clean is heavily soiled.
  4. Apply a few tablespoon of the cleaning solution on a small hidden area of the carpet to test for colour fastness as recommended by Acton cleaners. Let the solution sit for several minutes, if the carpet looks normal then it is safe to use the homemade cleaning solution on the entire carpet.
