How to Make a Carpet Cleaning Solution with Household Items

Using a homemade carpet cleaner is safe to the environment and your health since it doesn't contain harsh cleaning chemicals such in most commercial cleaners. The ingredients needed to make your own carpet cleaner are not expensive and it is very likely to have already some of them at your home.

There are many different carpet cleaning solution which are more or less appropriate to be used depending on the type of the carpet and the stain. Try some of the recipes below to make your own cleaning solution and take care of your carpets without spending tons of money for store-bought products.

Detergent Solution

To make a detergent solution, mix 1 cup of warm water and ¼ teaspoon of dish washing detergent. Next, saturate a white rag into the mixture and rub the stain gently applying little pressure on the rag. Rinse the area with plain water and clean cloth, as suggested by cleaners Acton.

Ammonia Solution

Fill a spray bottle with ½ cup of lukewarm water and 1 tablespoon of clear ammonia. Spray the stain with the ammonia solution so you don't over-wet the carpet. Wait the solution to sit on the carpet for 10 minutes and then rub the stain with minimal pressure until the stain is completely removed. Use a damp cloth to rinse the carpet.

Vinegar Solution

Combine 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent and 1 teaspoon of white vinegar into 1 cup of lukewarm water. Dip a clean, white towel into the solution and gently scrub the stain. Rinse the area with a towel moistened with clear water then leave the carpet to air dry.
If you cannot remove some stubborn stain using the above cleaning solution, you can always use professional cleaning Acton services to remove the stain from your carpet.
