Sanitizing and Deodorizing Your Dish Rags

Like every other thing, dish rags need to be cleaned, too. The long use can lead to stale smell and even bacteria, so you have to sanitize them from time to time. Here are some good tips for cleaning your dish rags fast and easy.

You will need:

  • large pot
  • warm or hot water
  • mild detergent or liquid dish soap
  • chlorine-based detergent
  • baking soda or lemon juice

Dish rags are handy for all kinds of kitchen work, but unfortunately their exposure to moisture, spills, food and dirt can create a strange stale odour. Cleaning them frequently will ensure that they are bacteria-free and safe to be used.

Sanitizing:
There are all sorts of methods that you can use to clean your dish rags. For this one you will only need a large pot of water. Boil the water and place all the dish rags in the water. Leave them there for ten to fifteen minutes. The boiling water will kill any mildew, bacteria and germs that might be on the dish rags. It will also easily dissolve any hardened food and spills and it will help you easily remove stubborn stains.

Cleaning the dish rags:

If you used the method with the boiling water, the stains are probably well dissolved and ready to be removed. Get a cleaning detergent, apply it on a clean sponge and brush off the stains. Make sure you are not using strong toxic detergents. They can be dangerous when you don't know how to use them.

Removing stains with natural products:

Melbourne cleaning services shared with us another great method to remove stains, that is absolutely natural and harmless. It's also extremely cheap and you should definitely try it, if you have problems with the money. Do you know that baking soda can be used for cleaning? It's also one of the most preferred cleaning solutions, actually. Mix some baking soda with lemon juice or just water to make a paste. Apply the paste on the stains, leave it to soak and brush it off with a clean sponge.

Removing stubborn stains:

For cleaning stubborn stains, you might need to use a strong detergent. It's best to use a chlorine-based detergent. Simply apply the detergent on the stains, brush the stains and wash the detergents after the stains are gone. But have in mind that chlorine-based cleaners could be dangerous. You need to keep the windows open and use gloves when you clean.
